The American Veterinary Medical Association Headquarters Externship

The American Veterinary Medical Association Headquarters Externship
The American Veterinary Medical Association Headquarters Externship is open to all veterinary medicine students who are members of the Student American Veterinary Medical Association (SAVMA). The paid externship program lasts 3-4 weeks and takes place at AVMA headquarters.

The externship gives students a chance to explore veterinary career opportunities in clinical practice, teaching, research or working within a large corporation. Each year, five students are selected for this program at AVMA headquarters. The externship gives students a choice to spend the entire externship in one division or among several divisions.

Students will learn by participating in many different projects as an AVMA extern. At the end of the externship, each extern will be expected to develop and present a presentation to AVMA and their own school about their experience as an extern.

Why not apply for an externship and internship?

The externship is sponsored by the American Veterinary Medical Association, with funding provided by the American Veterinary Medical Foundation. The AVMA serves the interests of more than 84,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia, and military. The non-profit organization is headquartered in Schaumburg, Illinois.

The location is usually in ILLINOIS.
