Eligible dental students must be currently enrolled in an ADA-Accredited Dental School which is among those affiliated with Lutheran Medical Center. All participating schools maintain high academic standards and have externship programs designed to give students the best hands-on patient care experience.
The externship is different than just observing. Externships provide real, hands-on work experience for medical students. Externs will work with an attending physician and perform clinical duties such as assessing patient histories and performing physical examinations. All extern duties are done at a hospital under the supervision of a U.S. licensed attending physician.
Whether students are looking for experience in the field of medicine, providing software and technology support, or developing health and other programs for the clinic, they are sure to find an experience that will enrich their classroom learning.
By participating in an externship, veterinary students will work with specialists, residents, interns, and senior emergency clinicians. The externships last up to two weeks and give externs an overview of all aspects involved in the medical treatment of animals.
The program is offered to help Bain consultants strengthen their skills and increase their knowledge about the way other companies do business. Consultants work for a company of their choice, and then return to Bain. Company choices include consumer product companies, international think tanks, nonprofits, startup companies, and many more.
Eligible students accepted into the program work a total of 120 hours in a field placement and receive 3 hours of college credit; the externship is unpaid. Students may choose any one of over 80 positions available within corporations, the legal system, judges and non-profit organizations in the Atlanta area.
