Kettering Medical Center Medical Externship Program
Medical students must have completed their first year of medical school and in their second year of school before they are eligible to apply for externships. Each session is two weeks long and includes a stipend, housing if required, meals, parking and travel allowance.
Externs can focus in one specialty area or request exposure to several different clinical areas. Externs will be able to increase their medical knowledge in areas that include emergency medicine, nuclear medicine, pathology, labor and delivery, surgery and ambulatory medicine. They may also focus on specialty areas such as hematology, cardiology, radiology, infectious diseases and others.
Kettering Medical Center is located in Kettering, Ohio, near Dayton and Cincinnati. It is a non-profit health network consisting of 7 hospitals and 8 emergency rooms as well as many outpatient facilities.
