Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid Veterinary Technician/Nurse Student Externship Program across the United States for students enrolled in AVMA accredited veterinary technology/nursing programs. The program provides hands-on experience in emergency medicine, focusing on skills like patient care, triaging, and laboratory procedures. Flexibility in externship length and location is provided, with mentorship by experienced veterinary technicians. Rabies vaccination is required, and applicants must be actively enrolled in a relevant program.

Summer Student Nurse Tech Program is open to nursing students throughout the U.S. The paid work experience program takes place during the summer and gives nursing students an opportunity to gain skills that will be valuable to their nursing career. The program is held every summer at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. The program lasts 10 weeks during which students will be trained for a career as a Nurse Tech. Externs will work with an attending physician and perform clinical duties such as assessing patient histories and performing physical examinations.
