Cornell Extern Program

Cornell Extern Program
Cornell Extern Program is open to college sophomores, juniors, and seniors from all undergraduate colleges. It's an opportunity for students to explore their career options while still in college. Winter externships are offered during January and February.

Externships can last from one day to one week. Eligible students will find externships available in numerous career fields and geographic locations around the world. The externships do no include pay or college credit. Students will be responsible for all expenses, including travel and housing.

Externships can include shadowing, interviewing company colleagues, touring the facilities, and may at times include a brief project. The main objective of externships is to give students a short preview of the company and the job. About 96 percent of students who apply will receive a placement.

Why not apply for an externship and internship?

The externships are provided by Cornell University Career Services to help students gain insight into career fields and options. Students are encouraged to research positions and companies carefully and apply early in order to choose an externship that will provide them with the best overall experience.
