Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid externship for veterinary technology/nursing students, providing hands-on experience in emergency medicine. Students work alongside credentialed veterinary technicians (VEG Veterinary Nurses) and gain skills in patient care, triage, and collaboration. Flexibility in externship length and location is provided to meet school requirements, with a focus on creating a safe and supportive learning environment. Rabies vaccination is required, unless exempted by the school's policy, and applicants must be enrolled in an AVMA accredited program.

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Externships

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Externships are for nursing students currently enrolled in a BSN program. Externships give students a chance to increase their skill set and prepare for a career in nursing. Externs will work in one of the world’s largest academic medical centers. They will work with physicians, allied professionals and other nurses in an environment where they can exchange ideas and increase their medical knowledge. Positions are offered as a Nursing Attendant, Nursing Companion or Summer Nurse Externship. All are part-time nursing positions for nursing students.

UCLA Health Nursing Summer Externship Program offers work experience to nursing students who have completed their junior year and are entering their senior year of nursing school. The externship is unpaid. Externships are offered during the summer and take place at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA, and The Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA. Applicants can choose two specialty areas for their externship. The externship is designed to help nursing students choose a career path in nursing.

St. John Medical Center Nurse Externship Program is for nursing students who are just two semesters away from graduation. Senior-level nursing students may apply. To be eligible, students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above. They must also be able to work the required number of hours during the semester. The externship places nursing students in real work environments where they can apply their classroom learning in a hospital setting working with real patients.

The externships are offered at several different host locations.
