Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid Veterinary Technician/Nurse Student Externship Program, providing hands-on emergency medicine experience to vet tech/nursing students. With a focus on mentorship and flexibility, students gain skills in patient care, triage, and collaboration in a fast-paced environment. Requirements include enrollment in an AVMA accredited program, rabies vaccination, and readiness to begin the externship within six months.

Summer Student Nurse Tech Program is open to nursing students throughout the U.S. The paid work experience program takes place during the summer and gives nursing students an opportunity to gain skills that will be valuable to their nursing career. The program is held every summer at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. The program lasts 10 weeks during which students will be trained for a career as a Nurse Tech. Every year about 50 nursing students from around the country are accepted into the program which includes educational sessions from all areas of specialty.

UCLA Health Nursing Summer Externship Program offers work experience to nursing students who have completed their junior year and are entering their senior year of nursing school. The externship is unpaid. Externships are offered during the summer and take place at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA, and The Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA. Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) U.S. Externships offer foreign medical students a hands-on clinical program that matches residency program requirements. It fills the experience requirement for students when they apply for a residency. The externship is different than just observing. Externships provide real, hands-on work experience for medical students. Externs will work with an attending physician and perform clinical duties such as assessing patient histories and performing physical examinations. All extern duties are done at a hospital under the supervision of a U.S. licensed attending physician.

Students who join the Bain team are offered externship positions that allow them to jump start their career through six-month working assignments at other companies where they can pursue different career paths. As Associate Consultants and Senior Associate Consultants, team members have an opportunity to broaden their consulting knowledge at consumer product companies, international think tanks, nonprofit charter schools, startup companies, and others. Student Nurse Externs work 16 hours bi-weekly and must also be available to work different shifts, holidays and weekends if necessary.
