Emory University School of Law Externship Program

Emory University School of Law Externship Program
Emory University School of Law Externship Program gives students practical experience outside the classroom and a glimpse into the real world of law practice. It is open to second- and third-year law students.

Eligible students accepted into the program work a total of 120 hours in a field placement and receive 3 hours of college credit; the externship is unpaid. Students may choose any one of over 80 positions available within corporations, the legal system, judges and non-profit organizations in the Atlanta area.

Students have an opportunity to see what law practice is all about through field placements. In addition, the program includes weekly classes that focus on discussions of ethical issues, career paths and other relevant information that rounds out their insight into the actual practice of law.

Since the externship is located in Atlanta, students will find many opportunities within large, well-branded organizations such as AT&T, American Cancer Society, GE, Home Depot, NCR, Turner Broadcasting, as well as many possibilities within federal offices, state courts, and local organizations.

The location is usually in GEORGIA.
