The Hagyard Equine Medical Institute Externship Program

The Hagyard Equine Medical Institute Externship Program and Jobs
The Hagyard Equine Medical Institute Externship Program is for students interested in a career in the medical care of horses. Students must have an interest in equine veterinary medicine and be third and fourth year veterinary students or graduate veterinarians.

Several different externships are offered to meet the interests of many students. It can include field care, medicine, surgery, sport horse treatment, reproduction and fertility. Students will gain real-world experience in their equine specialty field and work with some of the most valued horses in the world.

Externships are from one week to one month and are generally offered from February through May each year. To apply, students should send a cover letter that describes their area of interest, and a resume. Students are encouraged to apply two months in advance.

Hagyard Equine Medical Institute was founded in 1875 and provides state-of-the-art treatments and surgeries for both pleasure and race horses. The institute has more than 50 veterinarians and experienced staff members who are all dedicated to providing a variety of specialty services for their equine clientele.

The location is usually in KENTUCKY.
