The Duke University Health System is offering a Professional Nursing Assistant (PNA) Program for the summer of 2024. This program is open to rising Junior or Senior Nursing Students and requires applicants to be registered with the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry by May 15, 2024. The program runs from May 20 to July 28, 2024, and participants will work alongside RN clinical partners to gain hands-on experience in patient care. Applicants must commit to working 36-40 hours per week for the entire 10-week program and possess knowledge of nursing procedures and safety protocols. Duke is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Externships are for nursing students currently enrolled in a BSN program. Externships give students a chance to increase their skill set and prepare for a career in nursing. Externs will work in one of the world’s largest academic medical centers. They will work with physicians, allied professionals and other nurses in an environment where they can exchange ideas and increase their medical knowledge. Positions are offered as a Nursing Attendant, Nursing Companion or Summer Nurse Externship. All are part-time nursing positions for nursing students.

UCLA Health Nursing Summer Externship Program offers work experience to nursing students who have completed their junior year and are entering their senior year of nursing school. The externship is unpaid. Externships are offered during the summer and take place at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA, and The Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA. St. John Medical Center Nurse Externship Program is for nursing students who are just two semesters away from graduation. Senior-level nursing students may apply. To be eligible, students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above. They must also be able to work the required number of hours during the semester. The externship places nursing students in real work environments where they can apply their classroom learning in a hospital setting working with real patients.

University of Michigan Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Externship is offered to dental students who are pursuing careers in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The externship will expose students to various career options in the dentistry field. Students applying for the program must be in good academic standing. They must also have completed courses that have taught them basic oral and maxillofacial surgery.
