YAI is offering an unpaid Graduate Speech-Language Pathology Externship, where the extern will conduct speech and language assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide therapeutic interventions in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate Speech-Language Pathology program, with a preference for those with experience or coursework in pediatric speech-language pathology. Key skills include clinical and communication proficiency, cultural competence, problem-solving, and organizational abilities. This internship opportunity may fulfill course credit requirements, subject to approval. The program is held every summer at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. The program lasts 10 weeks during which students will be trained for a career as a Nurse Tech. Every year about 50 nursing students from around the country are accepted into the program which includes educational sessions from all areas of specialty.

UCLA Health Nursing Summer Externship Program offers work experience to nursing students who have completed their junior year and are entering their senior year of nursing school. The externship is unpaid. Externships are offered during the summer and take place at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA, and The Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA. Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) U.S. Externships offer foreign medical students a hands-on clinical program that matches residency program requirements. It fills the experience requirement for students when they apply for a residency. The externship is different than just observing. Externships provide real, hands-on work experience for medical students. Externs will work with an attending physician and perform clinical duties such as assessing patient histories and performing physical examinations. All extern duties are done at a hospital under the supervision of a U.S. licensed attending physician.

Student Nurse Externs work 16 hours bi-weekly and must also be available to work different shifts, holidays and weekends if necessary.
