This is an 8-week Student Nursing Externship program offered by a Magnet institution associated with Johns Hopkins Health System. It provides nursing students with hands-on patient care experience, mentorship from experienced RNs, additional educational opportunities, and potential career development. The program offers opportunities in various medical areas and requires Maryland CNA certification, CPR certification, and availability from June 3rd to July 26th, with a preference for rising seniors with an anticipated graduation date of Dec '24 or May '25.

Students who join the Bain team are offered externship positions that allow them to jump start their career through six-month working assignments at other companies where they can pursue different career paths. The externship is unpaid. It fills the experience requirement for students when they apply for a residency. The externship is different than just observing. Externships provide real, hands-on work experience for medical students. Externs will work with an attending physician and perform clinical duties such as assessing patient histories and performing physical examinations. All extern duties are done at a hospital under the supervision of a U.S. licensed attending physician.

St. John Medical Center Nurse Externship Program is for nursing students who are just two semesters away from graduation. Senior-level nursing students may apply. To be eligible, students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above. They must also be able to work the required number of hours during the semester. The externship places nursing students in real work environments where they can apply their classroom learning in a hospital setting working with real patients.

Cook Children's Nursing Externship Program is a 10-week work experience program for nursing students pursuing careers in pediatrics. The externship includes clinical experience and classroom activities that will increase both knowledge and skills in nursing. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a BSN program. A grade point average of 3.0 or above is required; students also must have completed two clinical courses before applying. Externships take place during the summer from the middle of May through the end of June.

Summer Student Nurse Tech Program is open to nursing students throughout the U.S. The paid work experience program takes place during the summer and gives nursing students an opportunity to gain skills that will be valuable to their nursing career. The program is held every summer at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. The program lasts 10 weeks during which students will be trained for a career as a Nurse Tech. Every year about 50 nursing students from around the country are accepted into the program which includes educational sessions from all areas of specialty.
