Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid Veterinary Technician/Nurse Student Externship Program, open to students currently enrolled in AVMA accredited veterinary technology/nursing programs. The externship provides hands-on emergency medicine experience, focusing on skills like patient vitals, laboratory sample processing, and triaging. Externs receive mentorship from credentialed veterinary nurses and choose the duration and location of their externship based on hospital availability. Rabies vaccination is required, with exceptions based on school policies. The program is tailored for veterinary technology/nursing students and must commence within 6 months of application.
