Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers a Veterinary Technician/Nurse Student Externship Program for students enrolled in AVMA accredited veterinary technology/nursing programs. The unpaid externship focuses on emergency medicine, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in areas such as patient vitals, laboratory sample processing, and triage. Candidates can choose their externship length and location, and will receive mentorship from experienced veterinary nurses. Applicants must begin their externship within 6 months of application and meet rabies vaccination requirements or comply with their school's rabies mitigation policy. The program is exclusive to vet tech/nursing students, not for veterinary or veterinary assistant students.
