Loyola Law School Externship Program is a great way for law students to practice law through work in specialized offices. Students must be in at least their second year of law school to apply. Externships are unpaid, but students may receive up to 14 units of externship credit toward their total credits needed for graduation. Students may choose positions within judicial clerkships, public interest organizations, government offices and corporate legal departments. All positions will help them increase the skills they will need as practicing attorneys.

The externship is unpaid. Externships are offered during the summer and take place at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA, and The Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA. Programs are offered in the Spring, Summer and Fall. The externship will expose students to various career options in the dentistry field. Students applying for the program must be in good academic standing. They must also have completed courses that have taught them basic oral and maxillofacial surgery. Externs may work on behalf of the NAACP for the defense of African-Americans and other minority groups. The clinical externships are available at veterinary facilities across the country. Students accepted into the clinical externship program will have opportunities to learn about the care of many types of wild animals, including bald eagles, raptors, and other exotic wildlife and zoo animals. Externs will receive hands-on experience in clinical medicine and surgery, field observation, research, disease control, and other veterinary practices.
