Externships are unpaid, but students may receive up to 14 units of externship credit toward their total credits needed for graduation. Students may choose positions within judicial clerkships, public interest organizations, government offices and corporate legal departments. All positions will help them increase the skills they will need as practicing attorneys.

The externship is unpaid. Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV) Externships offer veterinary students an opportunity to work in a veterinary environment for the study of birds, mammals and reptiles. The clinical externships are available at veterinary facilities across the country. Students accepted into the clinical externship program will have opportunities to learn about the care of many types of wild animals, including bald eagles, raptors, and other exotic wildlife and zoo animals. Externs will receive hands-on experience in clinical medicine and surgery, field observation, research, disease control, and other veterinary practices.

Externs may work on behalf of the NAACP for the defense of African-Americans and other minority groups.
