Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid Veterinary Technician/Nurse Student Externship Program for students enrolled in AVMA accredited veterinary technology/nursing programs, providing hands-on experience in emergency medicine. Externs work alongside credentialed veterinary technicians, focusing on skills like triaging cases, obtaining vitals, and caring for hospitalized patients. Flexibility in externship length and location is offered, with mentorship provided by experienced VEG Veterinary Nurses. Rabies vaccination is required unless exempted by the school's policy.
