Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid externship program for veterinary technology/nursing students enrolled in AVMA-accredited programs. The program provides hands-on experience in emergency medicine, focusing on skills like patient care, triage, and collaboration in a fast-paced environment. Students have flexibility in choosing the length and location of their externship, and mentorship is provided by credentialed veterinary technicians (VEG Veterinary Nurses). Requirements include enrollment in an accredited program, vaccination for rabies, and externship commencement within six months of application.
