Penn State Hershey Student Nurse Externships
Penn State Hershey Student Nurse Externships are ten-week programs for nursing students entering their senior year. The externships give nursing students an opportunity to work directly with the nursing team at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
This paid externship is offered during the summer. Up to 35 qualified students will be hired. To qualify, students should have a grade point average of 3.0 or above and be in their senior year of nursing school. The externships are full-time and provide nursing experience in the areas of Patient Care Assistant and Patient Sitter.
To apply, students need to submit a completed application and include a resume, grade transcript, and a cover letter that indicates areas of care that the student is interested in, such as Acute Care (medical-surgical), Intensive/Critical Care, Intermediate Care, Oncology, Mother-Child, or Emergency.
The externship is offered by the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. The center is Pennsylvania's only academic, Level I regional trauma center and has more than 1,500 professional nurses.
