Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid externship program for AVMA accredited veterinary technology/nursing students, providing hands-on experience in emergency medicine alongside credentialed veterinary technicians (VEG Veterinary Nurses). The program focuses on honing emergency skills, such as obtaining patient vitals, processing laboratory samples, caring for hospitalized patients, and triaging emerging cases. Students can choose the length and location of their externship to meet school requirements, with mentorship provided by experienced technicians. Rabies vaccination is required unless the student's school allows handling unvaccinated animals.
