VEG offers an unpaid Veterinary Technician/Nurse Student Externship Program for AVMA accredited students seeking hands-on emergency medicine experience. With a focus on customer and employee satisfaction, VEG prioritizes creating a positive work environment while providing top-notch patient care. Students will work alongside credentialed Veterinary Nurses, gaining skills in patient care, triage, and collaboration. The program is held every summer at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. The program lasts 10 weeks during which students will be trained for a career as a Nurse Tech. Every year about 50 nursing students from around the country are accepted into the program which includes educational sessions from all areas of specialty.
