Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid externship program for veterinary technician/nursing students, providing hands-on experience in emergency medicine. The program focuses on honing skills like patient vitals, laboratory processing, and patient care in a fast-paced environment. Students have flexibility in the length and location of their externship, with mentorship provided by credentialed veterinary technicians. Applicants must be enrolled in an AVMA accredited veterinary technology/nursing program and be vaccinated for rabies.

Externships give students a chance to increase their skill set and prepare for a career in nursing. Externs will work in one of the world’s largest academic medical centers. They will work with physicians, allied professionals and other nurses in an environment where they can exchange ideas and increase their medical knowledge.
