Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid Veterinary Technician/Nurse Student Externship Program for students enrolled in AVMA accredited veterinary technology/nursing programs. This hands-on experience in emergency medicine includes tasks like obtaining patient vitals, processing laboratory samples, and caring for hospitalized animals. Students receive mentorship from credentialed veterinary technicians (VEG Veterinary Nurses) and have the flexibility to choose the length and location of their externship to meet school requirements. Rabies vaccination is required unless the school's policy permits handling unvaccinated pets.
