AVMA Student Externship Stipend Program
The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) offers externships for veterinary students who are interested in an opportunity to apply classroom learning in a real work setting. The externship pays students a stipend to help them with expenses.
A total of 15 externships will be awarded. There are five opportunities available in animal veterinary services in the dairy, beef, swine and poultry industry. The other ten positions may include working for large organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control, Food and Drug Administration, U.S. Department of Agriculture, or National Institutes of Health. Other areas may include research or diagnostic labs, or companies that manufacture animal food.
The externships are funded by the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF), a non-profit agency of AVMA that is dedicated to supporting programs that provide better care for animals. They contribute to disaster programs to ensure the safety of animals and fund educational programs that help future veterinarians gain more experience in animal care.
The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) was formed in 1863 and is one of the largest organizations of its kind in the world. The non-profit organization supports the needs of more than 84,000 veterinarians worldwide.
The location is usually in ILLINOIS.
