University of Maryland School of Law Externship Program
Law students at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law have an opportunity to experience their career first-hand by participating in an externship. Students with an interest in governmental and not-for-profit organizations are encouraged to apply.

Externships provide outside-the-classroom experience while earning college credit; a range of 3 - 11 credits are possible. The externship program provides field work experience along with a mandatory field-specific workshop that earns students 1 -2 college credit.

Students may choose any opportunity in the areas of business, health, environmental, criminal or international law; judicial; homeland security and more. Students may choose a placement in any field. An administrator will supervise their activities throughout the externship.

Externships are offered in the Fall, Spring and Summer. Applications should be submitted to the school's Office of Registration & Enrollment.
