The Academy of Rural Veterinarians Externships

Academy of Rural Veterinarians
The Academy of Rural Veterinarians (ARV) Externships are open to all veterinary students interested in working in a rural community. Applicants can be first-year students up to senior-year level.

The externship pays a weekly stipend to provide financial assistance for veterinary students who are willing and interested in working in a rural practice externship. The sponsoring practice must be located in an area where agriculture is a major contributor to the economy. The practice must also have one ARV member. In addition, the practice must include services to multiple species.

To apply, students must include a letter explaining their career goals, a letter of approval from a faculty member at their veterinary college, and a letter from the sponsoring practice that explains what the extern will be expected to do during their externship.

Why not apply for an externship and internship?

The externship is sponsored by the Academy of Rural Veterinarians (ARV), a professional organization supporting veterinarians who practice in America's rural communities. The organization also provides information to encourage more interest by other veterinarians in serving throughout rural communities.

The location is usually in NEW YORK.
