Adventist Health System Medical Externships
Adventist Health System Medical Externships are offered to first-year medical students to give them an opportunity to explore career choices in the field of medicine. The two-week program includes a stipend.
Students must be currently attending a school that is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, the organization responsible for accrediting medical education programs leading to an MD degree in the United States and Canada. The externship includes transportation to and from the externship location, lodging and meals, and a weekly stipend.
Externships are offered at five Adventist Health System locations, including Orlando, Florida; Hinsdale, Illinois; Louisville, Colorado; Burleson, Texas; and Kansas City, Kansas. Externs will accompany family medicine faculty physicians with daily rounds and attend out-patient clinics. All locations offer students a two-week clinical experience and preview into a medical career.
Externships are offered by the Adventist Health System, a non-profit health care organization operating across the Southern and Midwestern regions of the United States. It is the largest not-for-profit Protestant health care provider in the nation and is run by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
