Cima Hospice Externships are offered to students who are interested in pursuing careers within the healthcare field. Externship opportunities are available for San Antonio Texas College students on campus and online.

Externships offer a rich, volunteer experience and a great educational opportunity for students. Externs will be able to work with Social Workers, Chaplains, RNs, LVNs, CNAs, and medical administrative staff in providing compassionate end-of-life care for over 300 patients in the San Antonio, Texas area.

Cima Hospice was founded in 2006 and has grown to 10 agencies that provide hospice services throughout several communities in Texas and Oklahoma. They support patients and their families who are experiencing life-limiting illnesses.

St. Jude’s Nurse Extern Program is designed to give nursing students work experience in pediatric oncology nursing. Nursing school students who are within 12 months of graduation may apply. The length of the externship varies. Students who are entering their senior year of nursing school may apply. The internship is paid; housing is not included. Applications are available every year in the months of March, April, October and November.

Bain & Company offers students who have graduated from college a unique career in corporate strategy consulting. Students who join the Bain team are offered externship positions that allow them to jump start their career through six-month working assignments at other companies where they can pursue different career paths. As Associate Consultants and Senior Associate Consultants, team members have an opportunity to broaden their consulting knowledge at consumer product companies, international think tanks, nonprofit charter schools, startup companies, and others. Following a six-month externship, consultants return to Bain with increased skills as a consultant and enhanced knowledge of other industries.

UCLA Health Nursing Summer Externship Program offers work experience to nursing students who have completed their junior year and are entering their senior year of nursing school. The externship is unpaid. Externships are offered during the summer and take place at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA, and The Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA. Applicants can choose two specialty areas for their externship. The externship is designed to help nursing students choose a career path in nursing.

Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) U.S. Externships offer foreign medical students a hands-on clinical program that matches residency program requirements. It fills the experience requirement for students when they apply for a residency. The externship is different than just observing. Externships provide real, hands-on work experience for medical students. Externs will work with an attending physician and perform clinical duties such as assessing patient histories and performing physical examinations. All extern duties are done at a hospital under the supervision of a U.S. licensed attending physician.

As investors, venture capitalists (VCs) are investing in new ideas, innovations, and most importantly teams, where do they begin? This is called deal sourcing. Externs will profile startup companies, learn what VCs look for, and be a part of investing in the next generation of technology. HP Tech Ventures is seeking ambitious students to help research relevant pre-seed stage startups for deal sourcing and evaluation. This project includes special data analytics projects that allow students to practice using analysis tools to perform business model, strategy, and value chain analysis. St. John Medical Center Nurse Externship Program is for nursing students who are just two semesters away from graduation. Senior-level nursing students may apply. To be eligible, students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above. They must also be able to work the required number of hours during the semester. The externship places nursing students in real work environments where they can apply their classroom learning in a hospital setting working with real patients.

Cook Children's Nursing Externship Program is a 10-week work experience program for nursing students pursuing careers in pediatrics. The externship includes clinical experience and classroom activities that will increase both knowledge and skills in nursing. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a BSN program. A grade point average of 3.0 or above is required; students also must have completed two clinical courses before applying. Externships take place during the summer from the middle of May through the end of June.

Summer Student Nurse Tech Program is open to nursing students throughout the U.S. The paid work experience program takes place during the summer and gives nursing students an opportunity to gain skills that will be valuable to their nursing career. The program is held every summer at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. The program lasts 10 weeks during which students will be trained for a career as a Nurse Tech. Every year about 50 nursing students from around the country are accepted into the program which includes educational sessions from all areas of specialty.
