Central Contra Costa Sanitary District (Central San) Externship Program

Curious about a career in wastewater? Central San is hosting a virtual externship program March 14-18, 2022. See our facilities, hear from Central San staff working in a variety of departments, meet other students, and check out potential career paths in wastewater and the public sector. All majors welcome!

Central Contra Costa Sanitary District (Central San) has had a long-standing internship, co-op, and summer student program where we’ve given hands-on experiences to college students (many of whom have come back to work for us). Central San now hosts an Externship Program for students from colleges and universities all over the country. Our cohort-style learning experience is designed as an insider look at multiple career paths in the wastewater industry and an opportunity to make connections, not only with established staff at Central San but also with fellow externs. The program is free, convenient, and highly customizable; it can include any specific careers or departments the externs might be interested in. 
Last year, we welcomed 45 externs from colleges all over the country. Central San will be holding its Spring 2022 Externship Program virtually. It is an interactive, free, and convenient way to explore different career paths in the wastewater industry and hear from staff from across our organization. Current students and recent graduates are welcome to join. Please register by filling out the online form by March 11, 2022. The week-long program will take place remotely from March 14 to March 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. PST every day (with an hour-long lunch break). Even if you can only come for part of the session, we would love to have you!

They will work with physicians, allied professionals and other nurses in an environment where they can exchange ideas and increase their medical knowledge. Positions are offered as a Nursing Attendant, Nursing Companion or Summer Nurse Externship. All are part-time nursing positions for nursing students.

Corporate VC & Business Analytics Remote Externship

Overview This is an exciting externship where students can experience first-hand what it feels like to be part of a Fortune 100 company. As investors, venture capitalists (VCs) are investing in new ideas, innovations, and most importantly teams, where do they begin? This is called deal sourcing. Externs will profile startup companies, learn what VCs look for, and be a part of investing in the next generation of technology. HP Tech Ventures is seeking ambitious students to help research relevant pre-seed stage startups for deal sourcing and evaluation. This project includes special data analytics projects that allow students to practice using analysis tools to perform business model, strategy, and value chain analysis. Foreign Medical Graduate U.S. Externships

Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) U.S. Externships offer foreign medical students a hands-on clinical program that matches residency program requirements. It fills the experience requirement for students when they apply for a residency. The externship is different than just observing. Externships provide real, hands-on work experience for medical students. Externs will work with an attending physician and perform clinical duties such as assessing patient histories and performing physical examinations. All extern duties are done at a hospital under the supervision of a U.S. licensed attending physician.

Bain & Company Externships

Bain & Company offers students who have graduated from college a unique career in corporate strategy consulting. Students who join the Bain team are offered externship positions that allow them to jump start their career through six-month working assignments at other companies where they can pursue different career paths. As Associate Consultants and Senior Associate Consultants, team members have an opportunity to broaden their consulting knowledge at consumer product companies, international think tanks, nonprofit charter schools, startup companies, and others. Following a six-month externship, consultants return to Bain with increased skills as a consultant and enhanced knowledge of other industries.

Cornell Extern Program

Cornell Extern Program is open to college sophomores, juniors, and seniors from all undergraduate colleges. It's an opportunity for students to explore their career options while still in college. Winter externships are offered during January and February. Externships can last from one day to one week. Eligible students will find externships available in numerous career fields and geographic locations around the world. The externships do no include pay or college credit. Students will be responsible for all expenses, including travel and housing.

Christiana Care Health System Student Nurse Externships

Christiana Care Health System Student Nurse Externships are offered to students enrolled in a nursing program and pursuing a career as a Registered Nurse. Students interested in applying must have completed at least one clinical rotation in an acute care setting. Student Nurse Externs work 16 hours bi-weekly and must also be available to work different shifts, holidays and weekends if necessary. The work environment is casual and the work schedules are flexible so students can continue uninterrupted with their studies.

UCLA Health Nursing Summer Externship Program offers work experience to nursing students who have completed their junior year and are entering their senior year of nursing school. The externship is unpaid. Externships are offered during the summer and take place at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA, and The Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA. Applicants can choose two specialty areas for their externship. The externship is designed to help nursing students choose a career path in nursing.

St. John Medical Center Nurse Externship Program

St. John Medical Center Nurse Externship Program is for nursing students who are just two semesters away from graduation. Senior-level nursing students may apply. To be eligible, students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above. They must also be able to work the required number of hours during the semester. The externship places nursing students in real work environments where they can apply their classroom learning in a hospital setting working with real patients.
