United Veterinary Care offers externships for veterinary students in their clinical years at AVMA-accredited schools, with placement options at Peoria Area Veterinary Group's locations in Peoria, Dunlap, and Chillicothe. These externships are hands-on, allowing students to apply classroom knowledge in real-world scenarios, with a focus on various veterinary practices including oncology, orthopedic surgery, and theriogenology. Externs are encouraged to actively participate in surgical cases, dental procedures, and medical appointments under the mentorship of experienced professionals. The program also offers stipends to assist with travel and lodging expenses and tailors the externship experience to meet the individual goals and interests of each student.

Winter externships are offered during January and February. Externships can last from one day to one week.
