Externs will work with an attending physician and perform clinical duties such as assessing patient histories and performing physical examinations. Training external to the classroom is available through the unpaid externship program that allows students to work in various work environments. Students accepted into the externship program may choose to work for the federal government, on the Hill, in judicial chambers, or in local or national non-profit agencies.
