Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid externship program for veterinary technician/nursing students enrolled in AVMA accredited programs. The program provides hands-on experience in emergency medicine, emphasizing skills like patient care, triaging, and collaboration in a fast-paced environment. Students have flexibility in choosing the duration and location of their externship, supported by experienced veterinary technicians. Rabies vaccination is required, unless school policy permits handling unvaccinated animals.

Summer Student Nurse Tech Program is open to nursing students throughout the U.S. The paid work experience program takes place during the summer and gives nursing students an opportunity to gain skills that will be valuable to their nursing career. The program is held every summer at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. The program lasts 10 weeks during which students will be trained for a career as a Nurse Tech. The externship is unpaid. It fills the experience requirement for students when they apply for a residency. The externship is different than just observing. Externs will work with an attending physician and perform clinical duties such as assessing patient histories and performing physical examinations. All extern duties are done at a hospital under the supervision of a U.S. licensed attending physician.
