Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid Veterinary Technician/Nurse Student Externship Program for AVMA accredited vet tech/nursing students seeking hands-on experience in emergency medicine. Externs work alongside credentialed veterinary technicians (Veterinary Nurses), focusing on emergency skills like patient vitals, lab samples, patient care, and triage. The program provides flexibility in externship length and location, emphasizing mentorship and full immersion in emergency medicine. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited program, require externship hours, and be vaccinated for rabies, unless exempted by their school's policy.
