Applicants should apply a full semester in advance, and the process includes an interview, orientation, TB tests, and a criminal background check. Approval typically takes 3-4 days, with the entire process lasting around 3 weeks.

Cornell Extern Program is open to college sophomores, juniors, and seniors from all undergraduate colleges. It's an opportunity for students to explore their career options while still in college. Winter externships are offered during January and February. Externships can last from one day to one week. Eligible students will find externships available in numerous career fields and geographic locations around the world. The externships do no include pay or college credit.
