Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid externship program for vet tech/nursing students to gain hands-on emergency medicine experience. The program focuses on honing skills such as patient care, laboratory procedures, and triaging in a fast-paced environment. Students choose the length and location of their externship, with mentorship provided by credentialed veterinary technicians. Rabies vaccination is required unless the student's school allows handling unvaccinated pets, and applicants must be currently enrolled in an AVMA accredited veterinary technology/nursing program.
