Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid Veterinary Technician/Nurse Student Externship Program for AVMA-accredited veterinary technology/nursing students seeking hands-on experience in emergency medicine. The program focuses on honing emergency skills, such as obtaining patient vitals, processing laboratory samples, and caring for hospitalized patients. Students can choose the length and location of their externship, with mentorship provided by credentialed veterinary technicians (VEG Veterinary Nurses). Rabies vaccination is required, unless school policy permits handling unvaccinated animals.
