Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid Veterinary Technician/Nurse Student Externship Program for AVMA accredited veterinary technology/nursing students seeking hands-on experience in emergency medicine. Students collaborate with credentialed veterinary technicians (VEG Veterinary Nurses), focusing on emergency skills such as patient vitals, laboratory processing, and triage. Flexibility is emphasized, allowing students to choose the duration and location of their externship, while vaccination for rabies is required unless mitigated by school policy.

Externs will work with an attending physician and perform clinical duties such as assessing patient histories and performing physical examinations.
