Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid Veterinary Technician/Nurse Student Externship Program for those enrolled in AVMA accredited veterinary technology/nursing programs. The program provides hands-on experience in emergency medicine, focusing on skills like patient care, triaging cases, and collaboration. Students have flexibility in choosing the length and location of their externship, with mentorship provided by experienced veterinary technicians. Rabies vaccination is required unless exempted by the school's policy.

Externs will work with an attending physician and perform clinical duties such as assessing patient histories and performing physical examinations.
