Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers a Veterinary Technician/Nurse Student Externship Program for students enrolled in AVMA accredited veterinary technology/nursing programs. This unpaid externship provides hands-on experience in emergency medicine, emphasizing skills like patient care, laboratory procedures, and triage. Flexible in length and location, the program focuses on mentorship and requires rabies vaccination.

The program is held every summer at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. The program lasts 10 weeks during which students will be trained for a career as a Nurse Tech.
