Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid Veterinary Technician/Nurse Student Externship Program for students enrolled in AVMA accredited veterinary technology/nursing programs. Students gain hands-on emergency medicine experience, focusing on vital skills like patient care and triage, mentored by experienced Veterinary Nurses. Flexibility in externship length and location is provided, with a focus on creating a supportive and educational environment for students to grow and thrive in the emergency veterinary field.

Externships give students a chance to increase their skill set and prepare for a career in nursing. Externs will work in one of the world’s largest academic medical centers. They will work with physicians, allied professionals and other nurses in an environment where they can exchange ideas and increase their medical knowledge. Positions are offered as a Nursing Attendant, Nursing Companion or Summer Nurse Externship. All are part-time nursing positions for nursing students.

The clinical externships are available at veterinary facilities across the country.
