University of Oregon Judicial Externships

University of Oregon Judicial Externships and Jobs
University of Oregon Judicial Externships are offered to law students to give them practical experience in the courts. The three and a half month program places students in the courts to observe trials and legal proceedings in action.

The program was designed to help law students be more competitive when looking for a job after graduation. The experience will give them a greater advantage with future employers and also increase their opportunities with their favorite law firms.

Externs will gain valuable experience in the areas of research, court proceedings, working with judges, submitting briefs and preparing other legal documents. They will also learn how to effectively communicate with judges and learn what judges expect from them in the courtroom.

Students may apply for externships with federal courts, courts of appeals, supreme courts, tax courts and others. Students must have a grade point average of 2.0 or above in order to apply.
