Internal Medicine Medical Student Externship is offered to medical students pursuing careers in internal medicine. It is for fourth year medical students only.

The externship is offered at the Methodist Health System in Dallas, Texas. Eligible students are those who are currently attending medical school in the U.S. or Canada. The externship consists of four week block rotations. Externs will receive excellent training in the management of inpatients and some outpatient.

Methodist Health System was founded in 1924 and is one of the oldest nonprofit health systems in North Texas. The facility offers specialized services throughout Dallas and the surrounding North Texas area. Their Graduate Medical Education Teaching Program is designed to provide the best medical teaching experience for physicians from medical schools around the country.

The Methodist Health System has locations in Dallas, Richardson, Mansfield and Charlton, Texas.

Externships provide real, hands-on work experience for medical students. Externs will work with an attending physician and perform clinical duties such as assessing patient histories and performing physical examinations. All extern duties are done at a hospital under the supervision of a U.S. licensed attending physician.
