The Nurse Externship Program is an 8-week summer opportunity for senior BSN students with medical-surgical clinical experience. This program, based in Medical Oncology & Surgical Oncology, offers hands-on nursing practice under registered nurse supervision, along with didactic educational sessions and a patient education project. Requirements include a high school diploma, completion of one med/surgical clinical rotation, and BLS certification. The externship is unpaid. Winter externships are offered during January and February. Externships can last from one day to one week. The externships are offered at several different host locations.
