The Nurse Externship Program is an 8-week summer opportunity for senior BSN students with medical-surgical clinical experience. This program, based in Medical Oncology & Surgical Oncology, offers hands-on nursing practice under registered nurse supervision, along with didactic educational sessions and a patient education project. Requirements include a high school diploma, completion of one med/surgical clinical rotation, and BLS certification. University of Michigan Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Externship is offered to dental students who are pursuing careers in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The externship will expose students to various career options in the dentistry field. Students applying for the program must be in good academic standing. They must also have completed courses that have taught them basic oral and maxillofacial surgery. They must know how to administer local anesthesia and perform dental surgery of the teeth, soft tissue, and the jawbone, such as teeth extraction.

U.S. Department of the Interior Legal Externship Program offers law school students an opportunity to receive practical experience in the field of law while continuing their education. Programs are offered in the Spring, Summer and Fall. Externs may participate in civil litigation, conduct legal research, assist the Justice Department with legal work, draft legal briefs and motions, and assist with federal legal cases. Applicants must be currently attending a U.S. accredited law school, be in good standing, and have excellent legal research and writing skills.

Oregon Tax Court Externships

Oregon Tax Court Externships are offered to both law students and paralegal students who have completed at least one full year (law) or half (paralegal) of their schooling. Externships are available in the Spring, Summer and Fall for law students and throughout the year for paralegals. Law student externships are 13 weeks during which students will work in the courts on tax matters. Externs will work up to 40 hours per week.
