Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid Veterinary Technician/Nurse Student Externship Program for students enrolled in AVMA accredited veterinary technology/nursing programs. Students gain hands-on experience in emergency medicine, working alongside credentialed veterinary technicians. The program focuses on honing emergency skills, offering flexibility in externship length and location selection. Rabies vaccination is required, unless school policy allows otherwise. It fills the experience requirement for students when they apply for a residency. The externship is different than just observing. Summer Student Nurse Tech Program is open to nursing students throughout the U.S. The paid work experience program takes place during the summer and gives nursing students an opportunity to gain skills that will be valuable to their nursing career. The program is held every summer at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. The program lasts 10 weeks during which students will be trained for a career as a Nurse Tech. Every year about 50 nursing students from around the country are accepted into the program which includes educational sessions from all areas of specialty.
