Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offers an unpaid externship program for veterinary technician/nurse students, providing hands-on experience in emergency medicine. The program focuses on honing skills such as patient care, laboratory processing, and triage in a fast-paced environment. Students can choose the length and location of their externship, with mentorship provided by experienced veterinary technicians (VEG Veterinary Nurses). Enrollment in an AVMA accredited veterinary technology/nursing program, rabies vaccination, and externship requirement within 6 months are prerequisites for applicants.
